Ingredients & Benefits
Detailed Benefits and Properties of Ingredients in our Products.
We produce soap that is well-balanced, combining a number of organic oils that contribute to all of the wonderful characteristics of a good bar of soap. For example, coconut oil on its own would produce a brittle bar of soap and tend to dry out one’s skin. Lovely hydrating sweet almond oil or any of the other “soft oils “would produce a mussy bar of soap with little to no lather. Soap making is truly a science, knowing the final outcome based on the characteristics of the carrier oils as well as the essential oils is key in producing an effective and non-irritating bar of soap.
Coconut oil– is a key ingredient as it not only contributes to a hard bar of soap but the high content of lauric acid in coconut oil is what creates a majority of the lather in soap. Coconut oil has a very long shelf life so it contributes to a very low rancidity in the soap.
Babassu oil– comes from the nut of trees primarily grown in the Amazon region, babassu oil is generally harvested from fallen, ripe nuts. We use babassu oil in place of palm oil which has contribute to great deforestation. There is possibly substantive palm oil but with so much greenwashing happening we have decided to just avoid palm oil. Babassu oil similar to coconut oil with its high lauric acid it also contains myristic acid which is a beneficial fatty acid with anti-inflammatory properties. High in vitamin E and phytosterols Babassu oil properties are protective, nourishing and add a richness to our soap.
Olive oil – also contributes a hard and nourishing bar of soap and produces a good lather when combined with coconut and babassu oil. Olive oil is made up primarily of oleic acid which supports sebum product in our skin and provides plant-based squalene which functions as a natural emollient and is high is natural accruing vitamin E and A which provides anti-aging benefits as well as fights free radicals that damage the skin. We use organic olive oil in all our products as it so beneficial to the skin.
Sweet Almond Oil– is a light and nutrient rich oil is high source of linoleic acid, rich in vitamin E, squalene, glycosides and beta-sitosterol, all compounds to soothe the skin and keep it nourished. It makes our soap creamy and contributes to a nice lather. It our body polish it provides essential hydrating and sooths the skin.
Rice Bran Oil – Similar to Sweet Almond oil but it has some additional benefits and that is why it is added to our soap and body polish. Rice bran contains ferulic acid and plant-based squalene together they act as a powerful antioxidant, which can help guard against age spots by suppresses melanin. Rice bran also contains natural synthesized vitamin D by the way of squalene, sterols and gamma-oryzanol, all of which are beneficial to the lipids in our skin.
Castor oil – This thick and viscous oil is so full of moisture, and healing properties dating back centuries. It has a unique ricinoleic acid and an unusual fatty acid structure which is more water excepting then other fatty acids, it penetrates and is easily absorbed into the skin. Castor oil contributes to the hardness as well as the creamy lather in our soap and is a staple in our products.
Jojoba oil – is the closest oil to our own sebum and is actually more of a wax then an oil, it adds a rich therapeutic quality to soap and all skin care products because of its ability to control water loss. Highly compatible to the skin, its non-greasy and regenerative properties make this an excellent oil for a multitude of uses.

Mango Butter– has unsaponified fats that give it a rich, rejuvenating properties. It also contains a fair amount of natural and stable Vitamin C that adds to its rejuvenating effects on the skin as well as providing additional moisture and nourishing qualities in our soap. We generally add this butter to specific soaps for added gentleness.
Shea Butter– is a great super-fatting agent in soap as it adds additional motorizing and nourishing qualities. Rich in vitamins, plant sterols, minerals and very high in vitamin makes this a nice addition to our soap. We generally will choose one of butters to add in our soap or go with higher amounts of jojoba for added moisture and nourishing benefits. In our facial bars and children soap we made add multiple butters along with jojoba oil.

About the Essential oils we use.
All of the essential oils used in our products are “therapeutic grade” meaning they are as close to organic and extracted from plants in a way to keep the therapeutic properties in the oil intact. When blending essential oils for soap I always keep in mind that during saponification (when the soap under goes a natural chemical reaction for 48 hours) is a “volatile” reaction to the essential oils and it will cause some of the natural aroma to burn off. This is especially true for certain essential oils that are more “flighty” top notes like some citrus and floral essential oils so base-note essential oils are added to stabilize the essential oil blends as are clays. You may purchase a “floral blend” that has a non-floral essential oil in it, it is there to anchor the floral aroma. The aroma of that base note essential oil may be very hard to detect. The same goes for certain citrus essential oil, I generally layer citrus E.O.s to “boost” the citrus essential oil in the forefront. Citrus oils are known to be volatile and flighty which can make them a challenge to work with but well worth it. I will also add essential oils for its therapeutic benefits and that may not be detected by the nose, I do this often with lavender as it has so many soothing skin properties.
I do not use synthetic fragrance because it has very negative effects on the body over time. Also, I am and many people are very sensitive to synthetic fragrance and will get an instant headache, nausea and skin rashness. Our soap and other products are formulated for their therapeutic benefits known to calm and hydrate the skin with many additional beneficial properties in the oils, using synthetic fragrance would be counterproductive.
